July marks the beginning of Koala Trauma Season, making the work of the incredible team at Currumbin Wildlife Hospital more important than ever.β

Meet Bamse, an 18 month old koala who`s making history! π¨β¨β
β
Bamse has become the first wild koala to receive a groundbreaking chlamydia vaccine implant, developed through a partnership between Currumbin Wildlife Hospital & QUT. This innovative implant delivers both vaccine doses in a single examination, reducing stress for koalas while helping protect the future of this iconic species.β
β
After treatment, Bamse was released back into her Burleigh bushland home the very same day. She`s now wearing a GPS collar & will be closely monitored over the coming months as researchers track the success of this world first breakthrough.β
